Horse Breeding History
Our ranch has relied on steady, powerful horses from the beginning when our founder, Owen T. Jamison, raised Percheron horses for pulling equipment. We began developing our performance breeding program about 20 years ago to assist in running our Hereford operation. We have since become one of the largest Quarter Horse breeders in the country.
We began the program by purchasing a large number of broodmares from Albert Mitchell’s Tequesquite Ranch in New Mexico. He is in the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Hall of Fame and also bred Herefords throughout his impressive ranching career. The goal of our program is to breed horses that maintain classic Quarter Horse conformation, coupled with the foot, bone and soundness that insures that they will impress at the ranch or in the rodeo pen with their speed, versatility, muscular build, and riding quality.
Our ranch hosts our annual horse sale and auction in the fall where we sell over 100 weanlings, geldings, and mares. We also sell through private treaty throughout the year. We stand by the integrity and reputation of our horses and our goal is to develop a foundation on them that gives each horse an opportunity for success in ranch/rodeo life. We currently run over 80 broodmares on our ranch to ensure we keep up with customer demand for decades to come.
